What is happening to African wildlife such as the rhino and elephant is tragic.
Whether through poaching or habitat destruction, human activity is endangering wildlife populations that pre-date human existence in Africa. We must make the effort and invest the financial and other resources needed to protect these animals, or we will soon see a world without them. Extinction is real and it’s forever.
There is extreme urgency to our quest. Many African wildlife populations like the black rhino are threatened with extinction. A minimum viable population is reached well before the last individual vanishes. A minimum viable population means a population so small that genetic diversity cannot be maintained, or that the remaining individuals could be eliminated through a single natural disaster or slight variations in local habitat or other conditions.
